Suirfest our river our story

Celebrate and enjoy the natural and built heritage that surrounds the River Suir in Thurles.
Relax to river tales from Thurles residents in our Movie tent.
Observe the River Suir Audit(2015) displayed in summary fashion.
Take a Nature Walk in the Town Park/Riverbank area with the NPWS Conservation Ranger.
Families can take part in a specially designed Nature Treasure Hunt.
Watch a Willow weaving demonstration and create your own piece of willow art.
Visit the information stands from Cabragh Wetlands Trust, Inland Fisheries, Leave no Trace, Communities and Waters Office.
Listen to music from O’Donnells school of Traditional Music.
Enjoy some local food/tea/coffee.
Gather at the River Bank to observe Thurles Scouts as they launch their own coracles constructed from Willow scheduled for 4pm. Round off the event with a Duck Race at 4.30pm from Barry’s Bridge in aid of Thurles Scouts.
All events are free except for the Refreshments and the Duck Race.
On the day Ormond Search and Rescue will be our guardians. Bio security is a feature of this event to ensure that we protect our river and the surrounding ecosystem.
Overall the event runs from 1pm – 5pm.
