Finding A Voice Music Festival
2026 Finding A Voice Music Festival, taking place in Clonmel from 5 to 8 March 2026. Founded in 2017, the festival is Ireland’s only annual festival dedicated to celebrating music by women composers across all eras and genres, The exciting four-day series of concerts, talks, education and community-focused events presented across key venues in Clonmel town centre, including Old St Mary’s Church, Main Guard, STAC, Raheen House, CTI, and Clonmel Library. Headline events include Hildegard Transfigured by Voice Trio, a critically acclaimed multimedia concert-theatre work reimagining the music of 12th-century composer Hildegard of Bingen, presented for the first time in Ireland at Old St Mary’s Church. The Banbha Quartet will appear as part of a nationwide tour in collaboration with the National String Quartet Foundation, presenting repertoire by Emilie Mayer, Ethel Smyth, Bashra El Turk and a new commission by Jane O’Leary. Chamber Choir Ireland returns to Clonmel as part of an ongoing partnership with FAV, offering a programme spanning early to contemporary choral music. A major centrepiece of the festival is Duel, a two-piano concert by internationally recognised Irish pianists Mary Dullea and Isabelle O’Connell. This event includes the world premiere of a new work by Rhona Clarke, commissioned by Finding A Voice and inspired by the historic duelling code - the Code Duello - drawn up in Clonmel in 1777, directly connecting the programme to the town’s cultural heritage. The festival also includes a strong contemporary and jazz strand, with confirmed performances by Joanna Mattrey and Christine Tobin, both supported through national partnership with BAN BAM/the Improvised Music Company. The Emerging Composer Competition, delivered in collaboration with the Contemporary Music Centre, returns in 2026 and provides a national platform for emerging compositional talent, mentored by renowned Tipperary composer Marian Ingoldsby. Local participation and audience development are central to the programme. A FLOW Original Music singer-songwriter showcase in Raheen House, delivered in partnership with Flow Original Music Creators and ClonMelody, with music by Jessica Brett, Kate Twohig and Maria O’Brien/Zrazy, showcases local artists and creates an accessible entry point to the festival for new audiences. A public talk by international authors and historians Dr Leah Broad and Dr Anna Beer is at Clonmel Library. A Saturday lunchtime concert at Bodega 1830 with music by festival favourites Clarke, Beach and Price offers a new strand to the programme.
