In her lecture, Liz Rushen, Australian author talks about the life of Tipperary native Edmund Finn. Born in 1819 , Edmund emigrated to Australia in 1841. He worked as a journalist for several years. His fellow Tipperary man, John O'Shanassy then secured a position for him as Clerk of Papers at Parliament House, a role he held until 1887. He adopted the name 'Garryowen' and under this pseudonym, he published 'The Chronicles of Early Melbourne, 1832 - 1852' . This book reveals the part the Irish played in the development of the city. His work is highly acclaimed in portraying the story of early Melbourne.
