Cashel Choral & Dramatic Society present An Evening Of Drama: Maeve Binchy's DEEPLY REGRETTED BY & Jean McConnell's SHOPPERS
Cashel Choral & Dramatic Society are delighted to return to the Brú Ború stage this month with An Evening Of Drama. The group will stage Maeve Binchy’s classic television play Deeply Regretted By together with the short play Shoppers by Jean McConnell. The opening performance each night will be Shoppers - a one act comedy about two well-to-do shopaholic friends laden down after another productive shopping trip. But these ladies have a surprising secret… Following Shoppers will be Deeply Regretted By. Set in the late 1970’s, Deeply Regretted By is a moving and powerful account of a London widow who discovers, upon the death of her Irish husband, that he had been keeping a deep secret from her. The play is based upon Maeve Binchy’s story Death in Kilburn that ran in The Irish Times and when it aired on RTÉ Television in 1978, Deeply Regretted By affected audiences intensely and provoked significant reaction. These two contrasting pieces share a common theme – a well-kept secret. A great evening’s entertainment awaits, with laughter, high drama and everything in between. An Evening of Drama is directed by Oliver Corbett and runs from Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th March at 8pm each evening. Tickets are €15, with €10 concession tickets for students and senior citizens for shows on Thursday 23rd. Grant aided by Tipperary County Council An amateur production by arrangement with The Estate of Maeve Binchy and Christine Green Authors' Agent This amateur production of "Shoppers" is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk
