The competitive classes, open to everyone, include various types of honey, beeswax, mead, displays, confectionary, and bee related items allowing for all age groups and experiences to enter. In 2024, the prize winners ranged in age from 3 to 80 years of age. The lectures and demonstrations afford the public the opportunity to engage in biodiversity awareness, the circular economy, and products from the honeybee in health and wellbeing. The proposed topics and speakers for 2025 include Professor Emeritus John Breen and ‘Pollinators in your garden and how can you assist’.
